The narrative is not about the law. For the marcos camp, it is about eliminating a political rival. For the duterte camp, it is about maintaining a residue of power.

No one is above the law, period! This is true whether you are the sitting or former president. South Korea jailed its former presidents who were guilty of corruption while in office. These were no ordinary people but powerful generals and wealthy political families. The point is that the Marcos Duterte cage fight should be a sideshow.
