Talk of the Town: Incriminating confession

Comments on “Incriminating confession,” (Editorial, 10/31/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:

How can anyone file a criminal case against Duterte when the PNP refuses to release the official reports? Even if the reports are released, the statements will all be vague so that no one will be implicated and incriminated. Likewise, it is the responsibility of the DOJ to ascertain if any legal actions can be taken on behalf of the victims of EJKs. We cannot rely on the PNP to take any action against their master Duterte. Any action will require a lot of moral determination and political will on the part of the BBM administration to seek accountability.

It’s hard to believe there are still ordinary people who support the former president and they must wake up. No historical personage of the Duterte kind has brought good to the country he has led. Idi Amin, Kaddafi, Hitler, Stalin whose despotic ways are similar to Duterte came down in history as an evil leader. Duterte did not only damage the culture and raided the treasury, his immoral ways were uncharacteristic of any leader worth his salt. Thus, we are such in a sorry mess after his term.

Filipinos accepted EJK because of the slow-moving court system, which can be purchased and manipulated. The police enjoy it, too, because there is no back-and-forth filing apprehending and then losing the court case due to technicalities.
