Talk of the Town: Inhumane trade of human organs
Comments on “Inhumane trade of human organs,” (Editorial, 7/23/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:
It is about time that lawmakers recognize that the “noble act of organ donation” is as rare as hen’s teeth nowadays.
The lawmakers might as well explicitly allow compensation for organ donations except for minors and infants AND task the DOH to highlight all known dangers and long-term risks associated with the procedure not just for the involved individuals but also including their extended families. The science of it is vastly improving and recuperation of the donor’s partially impaired organ is now a distinct possibility.

Let us be clear: giving up a kidney or another organ with no expectation of reward is a selfless, noble act; exploiting the poor and desperate to get them to sell theirs is the height of evil opportunism.
