That’s why corruption remains: it’s driven by economic policies and laws that lead to a lot of red tape and don’t encourage industrialization, which in turn leads to more poverty and corruption that prevails. In short, it’s not only “Kung walang [corrupt], walang mahirap,” but also “Kung walang mahirap, walang [corrupt].”

How many laws have been passed since we’ve made it our top national priority to stop corruption, only to find out that the percentage share of corruption—guess what?—got shockingly bigger and bigger instead?
