Talk of the Town: Metro Manila’s missing bike+rail link

Comments on “Metro Manila’s missing bike+rail link,” (On the Move by Segundo Eclar Romero, 3/31/26) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:

In more developed societies, walking is the norm. A Tokyo salary man walks roughly 7+ kilometers daily to/from train stations. This would include walking to lunch and other meetings. In Singapore, about 2 km from home to wherever. Singaporeans are quite the fastest “walkers” I’ve noticed, even seniors. Of course sidewalks are very walkable, no open manholes, clean, no vendors.

Yeah but also consider the climate here in the Philippines, especially during summer.
