Talk of the Town: Money corrupts
Comments on “Money corrupts,” (Moments by Fr. Jerry M. Orbos, SVD, 10/13/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:
Perhaps, at the back of Father Orbos’ mind, he is thinking of Lord Acton’s words: “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority, still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority.” Why do you think political families and celebrities are now in control of most local and national governments? For power and to steal as much taxpayer money as they can. Why are Filipinos, mostly Catholics, more tolerant of corruption—a question Father Orbos should answer.

Thank you Father Orbos. The Philippines or Filipinos may not be perfect, but we are free to question our leaders.
