This is what happens when telecom becomes monopolized. Higher costs should equal to higher internet speeds, not the other way around.

Until the Philippines opens up its telecom market to outsiders, the service will continue to be poor and prices high. The only incentive they have to do better both in price and quality is competition from companies used to providing that. And no Philippine company has ever done that.
