Talk of the Town: Quad comm’s ‘telenovela’ and the ICC
Comment on “Quad comm’s ‘telenovela’ and the ICC,” (With Due Respect by Artemio V. Panganiban, 10/21/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:
With due respect, your honor. The scenarios playing out in the minds of Filipinos skeptical and cynical of the country’s justice system have a common thread: Duterte and certain key players in his so-called war on drugs will be cleared due to the poor track record in holding the powerful and wealthy accountable in our God-forsaken republic. At this point, the legit fear is that after all the recent revelations, the trials will go on till kingdom come, the main suspects will ultimately go scot-free, and only the minions (maybe the whistle-blowers) will be jailed, and the nation will just have to move on. The justice system in this banana republic only serves and protects the rich and powerful. Prove me wrong, your honor.
