Comments on “Saguisag-isms,” (Human Face by Ma. Ceres P. Doyo, 4/26/24) via www.inquirer.net:

Saguisag, his name really reflects his character. When times were so dark, there was a symbol of hope in this lawyer who just kept speaking out, telling the truth, forging on. Maraming salamat po.

Compare the late Rene Saguisag with today’s senators like Bong Go, RobinHood, Lito Lapid, Estradas, Bato, and some others and see how low the Senate has sunk.

Saguisag had a character different from the present crop of political leaders. Sit him beside those in the Senate and the whole plenary would be rendered insignificant beside him and [Risa].

This kind of politician—one who embodies nationalist values, integrity, wit, and disposition—is what I miss. The politicians we have now are all clowns, putting their personal interests ahead of the interests of their people.
