Talk of the Town: Stronger response to China’s bullying

Comment on “Stronger response to China’s bullying,” (Editorial, 8/30/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:

Enough is enough. BBM’s words are proven weak and insbustantial. His words that not an inch of our territory would be taken away were more of sweet talks only for hearing because China has already built military bases and cities right on areas that belongs to us. Now, Brawner short of rejecting US offer to escort supply ship is another misplaced pride. We have enough of these spineless and fainthearted leaders who will definitely bring us more miseries.

The question is why was the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal Decision still not fully imposed on China? Why is China being allowed to disregard this Decision. They should have been sued for damages for all their reckless actions. We should cut ties with them ASAP and continue to protect our own.

No amount of protest will prevent China from bullying us. It is already proven that “doing it by ourselves” is useless. China will keep on encroaching into our territory building more bases to prevent us from utilizing our natural resources. Brawner’s faint hearted response will just encourage China to keep on harassing our ships and fishermen as well as a signal to put more bases around us. It’s time for US to escort our PCG supply missions and also ask our allies to help us on this matter. BBM is just plain talk and will lead us to nowhere.

You cannot do the same thing all the time and expect a different result Gen. Brawner.
