Talk of the Town: Tensions in the impeachment process

Comments on “Tensions in the impeachment process,” (Public Lives by Randy David, 7/19/26) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:

Impeachment is exclusive to members of Congress. The House of Representatives prepares the Articles of Impeachment and the Senate decides. No need for private lawyers for the prosecution or for the defense. Their penchant for legalese will only undermine the constitutional process.

My two cents .. legally and functionally, a “betrayal of public trust” is very similar to a management-level employee (in a corporate setting) losing “trust and confidence,” as both center on a fundamental breakdown in the fiduciary relationship required for the role.

As a Filipino, whenever I watch the ongoing impeachment hearing I feel like I’m watching  an unscripted, chaotic reality show rather than a co-equal branch of government working on national policy.
