Talk of the Town: The war on corruption

Comments on “The war on corruption,” (Business Matters by Apa Ongpin, 1/1/26) via https://opinion.inquirer.net

Mr. Ongpin is right when he said corruption is systemic but not accurate for thinking it is difficult to measure. His other observation is true, “the mass voter base has demonstrated that they care less about corruption,” or tolerant of corruption, voting for known corrupt politicians (families/dynasties), even those convicted of crimes.

Romy S. Aquino

There is corruption because they can get away with it. This means, the rule of law is not working as it should. Very obvious is the extremely slow and unfair dispensation of justice. To be blunt about it, by its unfairness, one can’t avoid to conclude that judges can be bought. With this situation, corruption won’t ever stop!
