Talk of the Town: Welcoming Chinese investments
Comments on “Welcoming Chinese investments,” (Editorial, 9/19/24) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:
At this point in time when china shows no respect to the PHL, there should be a moratorium on chinese investments. Let’s learn from what they’re doing to other countries. Their silently encroaching invasion comes through all means including debt traps, purchase of real estates, bribing government officials, entry of chinese pretending as students. Have we not learned yet the Guo Hwa Ping lesson that she even came to pose as a citizen and even became a mayor?

Nothing wrong with more investments from China but the problem is the lack of security checks and surveillance of Chinese people going in and out of the country using the pretence of being part of whatever projects they have in the country. Just take the recent example of the supposed Chinese dredgers with no proper papers.
