The Philippines has been accelerating its infrastructure development to keep up with the needs of a continuously growing population. The national and local governments have been active in building and rehabilitating roadways to ease the traffic situation in urban areas, complemented by other projects in rural communities such as farm-to-market roads. Industries such as manufacturing, hospitality, and data centers are also growing to provide Filipinos with more jobs.

In January 2025, the Philippine government has earmarked 16 key infrastructure flagship projects as its focus for at least partial completion by 2028. These include the North-South Commuter Railway, the Metro Manila Subway Project, the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 4, MRT Line 7, Light Rail Transit Line 1 Extension, the New Cebu International Container Port, the Philippine National Railways South Long Haul, Mindanao Railway, and the New Dumaguete Airport.

With all these structures set to pave the way for a more progressive country, there is a need for lighting that is intuitive and sustainable. Signify, which was formerly known as Philips Lighting, recently unveiled its strategic plans for 2025 at a distributors conference that highlighted how its products support the Philippines infrastructure development.

The global leader in lighting brought together over 100 professional distributors, setting the stage for the company’s “Race to Growth” initiative, signaling a year of new product innovations and sustainable solutions.

Innovation in illumination

Signify’s 2025 comprehensive roadmap merges breakthrough innovation with exceptional customer engagement. It is set to invest even more in research and development to pioneer next-generation lighting and digital solutions. By expanding its distribution channels and harnessing data-driven insights, Signify aims to meet the evolving needs of customers in both emerging and established markets.

At the event, Signify Country Leader for Professional Business Raghuraman Chandrasekhar said that comprehensive training initiatives and enhanced after-sales support will be rolled out to empower professional partners, ensuring that every client benefits from the full spectrum of Signify’s expertise.

“Our continued investment in product innovation will allow us to stay ahead, delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. Maintaining cost competitiveness will ensure that we remain strong in an increasingly dynamic and competitive landscape.”

Chandrasekhar added that Signify’s strategy for driving value in its growth journey is to compete in the non-connected LED market by delivering high-quality, efficient lighting solutions. “We will outperform in the connected LED space by leading the shift toward intelligent, smart lighting systems; and we will expand our solar lighting portfolio, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable solutions that make a difference.”

Lighting the way for sustainability

A key product highlight at the event was the expanded Philips SmartBright All-In range. These luminaires integrate three color temperatures and three lumen packages in one product. For contractors, this means faster project completion with adjustable lumen output and color temperature during installation, ensuring the right lighting without delays. For wholesalers, fewer SKUs mean lower costs and optimized inventory, while still meeting installer and contractor needs. The SmartBright All-In range simplifies selection, reduces costs, and ensures the right lighting every time.

Sustainability is also important in the dynamic lighting industry, as Chandrasekhar underscored, “Growth is important, but responsible growth is what truly defines us. Our commitment to sustainability will continue to guide our innovation and operations, ensuring that we drive not only business success but also positive environmental and social impact.”

Signify reaffirmed its commitment to innovative innovation and excellence by partnering with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team. The partnership is set to drive new programs designed to enhance the overall customer experience for Signify Professionals, delivering cutting-edge solutions and elevated service that reflect both brands’ dedication to quality and sustainability.  The company’s Top Partners of 2024 were likewise recognized at the event for their exceptional contributions, affirming the company’s dedication to a unified and collaborative future.

With 2024 sales of EUR 6.1 Billion, a workforce of 32,000 employees, and a presence in over 70 countries, Signify is dedicated to unlocking the potential of light to create a brighter, more sustainable world.

With its 2025 roadmap, the company is set to deliver consistent value by maintaining a balanced focus on innovation, sustainable growth, and enhanced customer experience, providing high-quality lighting solutions that not only meet industry standards but also contribute to a greener future for the next generations.
