Championship dreams take flight at the 19th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour

One of the country’s most exciting premier golfing events is back on the greens—the 19th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour.
This year’s tournament is shaping up to be a thrilling experience for golfers eager to clinch the coveted championship title, along with exciting perks and prizes, as well as for enthusiasts seeking the adrenaline on the course. Any member of a Sta. Lucia-operated golf club is eligible for the tournament.
First leg
In Davao City, the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club and the South Pacific Golf and Country Club simultaneously played host to the first leg of the tour from Aug. 6 to 8.
Some 110 teams, made up of 220 players, participated. The Orchard members brought home the most number of trophies in various divisions.
The two other island groups follow in September and October. The participants of the second leg, covering the Visayas, will tee off on Sept. 3 to 5 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Cebu City.
The 19th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour will conclude with the Luzon leg on Oct. 14 to 16. It will be hosted by some of Sta. Lucia’s most iconic golf courses: Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas City, and Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, both in Cavite. For this leg, about 110 teams and 220 players are expected to participate.
Exciting prizes and honors
In each leg of this year’s tournament, prizes up for grabs include a round-trip ticket to Da Nang, Vietnam, sponsored by Philippine Airlines; a golf package that includes airfare and accommodations at select SotoGrande hotels of Sta. Lucia Land; as well as golf equipment and gear.
On top of these is the honor of being the tournament champion and bringing back to their home club the Perpetual Trophy designed by well-known abstract artist Carlo Magno.
Sta. Lucia is a well-known, trusted real estate developer in the Philippines, with a portfolio of over 300 developments in 15 provinces. That portfolio includes golf courses and country clubs.
Annual competition
The Sta. Lucia Golf Tour is an annual competition that gathers teams representing all 11 Sta. Lucia-operated golf clubs nationwide. Aside from the tourney venues from Luzon to Mindanao, the list also includes Pinewoods Golf and Country Club in Baguio City; Lakewood Golf and Country Club in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; and Beverly Place Golf and Country Club in Mexico, Pampanga; Summit Point Golf and Country Club in Lipa City, Batangas; Royale Tagaytay Estates in Alfonso, Cavite; and Caliraya Springs Golf and Country Club in Cavinti, Laguna.
With the most number of golf clubs in the Philippines under its wing, Sta. Lucia is considered an instrumental force in the local golf scene.
Preparations and finalizations for the tournament began as early as May, with Sta. Lucia chairman Vicente Santos taking a hands-on approach and working with the general managers of each participating golf club.
The 19th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour is presented by Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Inc., Davies Paints Philippines Inc. and Philippine Airlines. It is co-presented by TW Steels, Okada Manila, K&G Golf Apparel, Kart Plaza and Ion Advanced Electrolyte Drink.
