CWC International holds exciting art, design, architecture summit
A forum of pioneering minds and talents in art, design, and architecture, the CWC International 2024 Interiors Summit held last May 23 at its Bonifacio Global City showroom was attended by 250 guests from here and abroad.
Some 30 architectural and interior design firms were represented, as well as collectors and designer furniture aficionados who met Eames Demetrios, world renowned artist, design curator, filmmaker, speaker, writer, and director of Eames Office.
The CWC Interiors’ showroom held a flurry of various programs throughout the afternoon, starting off with cocktails. This was followed by a tour and walkaround in the showroom where guests enjoyed an exhibit of the coveted Vitra Miniatures Collection showing the chronological evolution of the chair from the Historicism Period to the Bauhaus movement and Post Modernism period.
There was also a showcase of iconic designer chairs and collector’s items for auction, culminating in an exhibit of the Vitra-Eames midcentury pieces and the Eames sculpture, which is one of only 12 in the whole world.
Of legacy, ideas and visions
The yearly summit kicked off with an introduction of how CWC Interiors continues to establish its legacy after more than three decades in the industry, led by COO Andrew Yates. Demetrios talked next about his ideas and visions on design, as the grandson of two of the most influential designers of the 20th century, Ray and Charles Eames.
To bring the discussion closer to home, Philippine Institute of Architects Presidential Excellence Awardee Architect Ed Calma shared the vision and legacy of his father, Architect Lor Calma, and how it has shaped the landscape of Philippine architecture and design.
Hossein Farmani, creative director, founder, and president of the Lucie Awards, also shared his experience in the art world from his base in the United States. Capping the forum was CEO and president of CWC International Fred Yuson, who imparted best industry practices to the audience.
The open forum discussed topics on how Philippine art and architecture have made an impact in the world scene and how these can become competitive in the future, both in line with the direction of CWC International.
