Expertise of judges leads to recognition of innovation, best practices
Philip Mareschal, head of Property and Asset Management at JLL Philippines, is no stranger to awards nights.
After 30 years of working in real estate, he has won citations in such events. But when he goes to Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, on Sept. 6 for the 12th Annual PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, he will attend as a judge.
He is part of a seven-member panel headed by Cyndy Tan Jarabata, president of TAJARA Leisure and Hospitality Group Inc. In July and August, the team went around the country to see which developers and developments deserved to be winners and “highly commended” awardees across 99 categories.
Distinguished platform
“PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards plays a crucial role in recognizing excellence and innovation in the real estate industry,” said Mareschal. “It provides a distinguished platform for industry professionals to showcase their achievements, innovations and best practices.”
Winners in this year’s edition of the PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards—which is presented by Kohler, and supported by Boysen Paints and Dongpeng Ceramic—will compete against regional counterparts at the Asia Property Awards, whose 19th edition holds its Grand Final in December. The brand gets its credibility from a judging process that is credible, fair and transparent; and judges who are industry heavyweights.
“Ultimately, the experience and expertise of our judges play a vital role in executing a fair, rigorous and well-informed evaluation process for prestigious real estate awards like the PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards,” Mareschal said.
Criteria for judging
Track record, innovation and responsibility are among the criteria for judging top developers. Financial success, quality of design and construction, sustainability and innovation are the main considerations for developments and designs.
As a judge, Mareschal taps into his experience with the JLL brand—a global real estate services firm offering services in 80 countries worldwide—to decide which makes the cut.
Mareschal takes his role seriously, knowing full well that PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards “significantly contributes to the advancement and growth of the real estate industry.”
Pushing for industry growth
JLL, similarly, is also doing its part in helping push for the growth of the industry.
For one, it has been actively advancing sustainability and environmental responsibility, as it supports clients in green building certifications, provides specialized consultancy services for sustainability strategies, and educates employees and tenants on sustainable practices.
JLL Philippines, in particular, is also a leader in property technologies or proptech. It improves its systems and services by employing data analytics, IoT, and building automation, digital and mobile apps, virtual reality and 3D visualization, and blockchain for smart contracts.
“By effectively leveraging proptech solutions, JLL Philippines enhances operational efficiency, optimizes the tenant experience, and maximizes the value of real estate assets, significantly influencing the future of property and asset management in the Philippines,” Mareschal added.
