One of the biggest trends this year is giving your space life and spunk—something that defines you. Instinctively, it would be good to add pieces that you like—update, refresh, enlighten! Choose what will make you happy.
Simple details such as rearranging furniture, adding a rug, changing your throw pillows, adding a new color, or getting new art can completely change the look of a room.
Rearrange the furniture layout
You can angle your sofa by placing it against a corner, then add a distinct floor lamp or a funky tall sculpture on the empty corner behind the sofa. This will change the dynamics of your living room.
Change your rug shape
Nowadays, you can choose from a wide array of rugs that come in various shapes. There are abstract pieces you can place asymmetrically to add a visual interest in your living room.
Play with the lighting mood
Add some layer of light using table lamps and floor lamps to change the mood of the space. Use wallpaper as lamp shades for layering.
Incorporate texture and color layering
Patterns from fabric can be brought in with seat cushions and pillows. Change a wall color with paint or a strong wallpaper pattern. Try to play with pillow sizes from 26 inches down to 18 inches, from square to rectangular shapes.

New art pieces can change the concept, theme, and design of the whole space. Old art can be rearranged, reframed into a whole new theme. You can also hang wall art in different ways to make it more interesting.

Organize your clutter—hide the not so pretty pieces. Display the antiques and place the similar pieces together. Highlight the special pieces with an acrylic or stone pedestal and accent lighting.
If there are a lot, get a nice shelf to show them off! Use a beautiful textured wallpaper as a background. Mix these with little pieces of art and antiquities to create a nice tableau.
