Hann Resorts blazes trails in hospitality and gaming
Hann Resorts began with a vision to set a global benchmark for integrated resort development in the Philippines. This ambitious journey commenced in 2008 when chairman and CEO Daesik Han opened Widus Hotel and Casino with just 24 tables and 150 slot machines.
Over the years, expansions ensued, and Widus International Leisure Inc. experienced steady growth. In December 2021, Hann Resorts marked its grand opening—a bold achievement despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. This evolution signaled a remarkable transition from its predecessor, Widus Hotel and Casino.
Today, Hann Resorts is aptly known as the “millionaire’s playground of the north,” continually redefining the gaming, hospitality, leisure, and culinary landscape in the region.
Spanning 11 hectares, Hann Resorts houses three iconic hotels, 15 dining establishments, and a world-class casino featuring over 780 slot machines, 62 gaming tables, and 88 electronic and live dealer table game seats.
The Clark Marriott, recognized by the Department of Tourism as Central Luzon’s first five-star luxury hotel, offers 260 rooms and suites and an Asean MICE award-winning Grand Ballroom that accommodates up to 360 guests.
The 22-story Swissôtel boasts 372 rooms and suites with contemporary Swiss-style design, while Widus Hotel provides 233 rooms and suites.
Together, these hotels operate a total of 15 restaurants, cafes, and bars, all within one exceptional complex.
Koreans remain the largest foreign investors in Hann Resorts, representing 90 percent of international players, while 60 percent of guests are locals seeking a quick getaway from Metro Manila.
As a result, Hann Casino Resorts became the leading revenue generator for Pagcor (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.) outside of Metro Manila, bringing in P11.9 billion in 2023. That same year, Hann Resorts was honored with the Top Investor, Top Income Generator, and Top Employment Performance awards during Clark Development Corp.’s 30th anniversary celebration.
Building on its success in Clark, Pampanga, Hann Philippines is expanding its presence with the ambitious Hann Reserve project in Tarlac. This 450-ha development is aimed to introduce some of the world’s most prestigious brands, the only PGA-affiliated golf facility in the Philippines, five luxury hotel brands, upscale residential areas, and more.
Han has announced a P17 billion investment for the first phase of this landmark project, which aims to bring in a whole new concept for luxury travelers. As he put it, “It is very risky to invest, but doing nothing is the worst risk of all.”
