PH1 World Steps up commitment to housing

Vaughn Alviar

Facing a national housing backlog of more than 6.5 million units, the Philippines will have to do far more than build homes.

The challenge now is ensuring that quality housing is accessible, attainable, affordable, scalable and delivered with greater transparency, said PH1 World Developers president Ma. Gilda Alcantara.

PH1, the real estate arm of Megawide Construction Corp., is responding to the challenge with a fresh boost from the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program. This government initiative recognizes that addressing a housing deficit of this scale requires a multi-stakeholder approach in which the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Pag-IBIG Fund and local governments partner with private developers.

Stronger commitment

PH1 is reinforcing its vision of “First-World Living” for Filipinos, with a target of delivering more than 25,000 homes by 2028.

The 4PH Program’s emphasis on collaboration takes on added significance during National Shelter Month this October. The 2026 theme—“Tahanan. Pamayanan. Kinabukasan.”—underscores the connection between secure homes, vibrant communities and a better future for Filipino families.

The theme also aligns with PH1’s core values.

PH1 World Developers ensures that residents need not compromise on quality, safety or lifestyle.

‘Tahanan’

The company addresses the need for tahanan (home) by bringing its vision of First-World Living to affordable housing, so families need not compromise on quality, safety or lifestyle.

It draws on Megawide’s expertise in precast technology, which allows building components to be produced in a controlled environment, helping standardize quality and accelerate construction. This efficiency is already evident in its projects.

Avesta Residences in Imus City, Cavite, the company’s first 4PH project, topped off Tower 1 on Aug. 4, 2026, just 10 months after construction began. Shortly after, its 4PH project in Dasmariñas City topped off two residential towers within nine months of groundbreaking, demonstrating PH1’s capacity to accelerate housing delivery while maintaining quality standards.

Beyond providing homes, PH1 World Developers also seeks to build pamayanan (community) by creating spaces that encourage social interaction.

‘Pamayanan’

Beyond providing homes, PH1 also seeks to build pamayanan (community) by creating spaces that encourage social interaction.

At the 1.3-hectare Avesta Residences, amenities such as a clubhouse and basketball court provide spaces for neighbors to gather and connect. Its location—steps from the New Imus City Hall, Ospital ng Imus and the Imus Track and Oval—also places residents within easy reach of essential services and recreational facilities.

The company also plans to expand its 4PH footprint to Bacoor City and other parts of Cavite, as well as Camarin, Caloocan City.

‘Kinabukasan’

Access to financing is just as important as the availability of housing units in helping families secure their kinabukasan (future).

Under the 4PH framework, Pag-IBIG Fund loans and government subsidies help make monthly amortizations more manageable for qualified PH1 homebuyers. This provides a more attainable path to homeownership for eligible households, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seeking to invest their hard-earned savings in a home they can eventually return to.

Beyond 4PH, PH1’s portfolio includes integrated, energy-efficient communities across Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal and Metro Manila.

As PH1 moves forward with its developments, its ambition to deliver more than 25,000 homes by 2028 reflects its commitment to helping address the country’s housing shortage.
