Rebuilding communities one response at a time
Through its BayanihanPlus Community Resilience Program, DigiPlus Foundation—the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corp., formerly known as BingoPlus Foundation—has mobilized P8 million in disaster relief to assist some 70,000 Filipinos affected by the Northern Cebu earthquake and the subsequent onslaught of Typhoons Tino and Uwan.
In Northern Cebu, the Foundation reached an estimated 56,000 individuals impacted by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake.
Relief operations covered six hard-hit municipalities namely Bogo, Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Tabogon, and Borbon. Here, families faced damaged homes, disrupted livelihoods, and recurring aftershocks that affected daily activities and access to basic services.

Expanded operations
Following the earthquake response, DigiPlus Foundation expanded its operations to address the impact of Typhoons Tino and Uwan, which brought heavy rains, flooding, and landslides to parts of Cebu, as well as strong winds and widespread flooding in Luzon.
In coordination with local government units, the foundation delivered essential assistance to affected communities in Hagonoy, Bulacan; Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; San Fabian, Pangasinan; Dumaguete City and Bacolod City in Negros Island; and selected barangays in Cebu City.
Upholding the organization’s nationwide commitment to disaster resilience, Michael Linatoc, regional manager for Luzon, emphasized the readiness of regional teams, comprised of BingoPlus store volunteers and partners, to mobilize for immediate rehabilitation efforts.
“I witnessed the heroic efforts of our colleagues in the Visayas, and I am proud to see how our Luzon team mirrored this spirit in the areas of Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija to respond to the needs of affected communities,” Linatoc said.
He added that BingoPlus branches in Luzon remain prepared to support recovery initiatives as communities transition from relief to rehabilitation.
“The scale of devastation from the recent Typhoons Tino and Uwan demands an even greater collective response to deliver hope to affected communities,” said Angela Camins-Wieneke, executive director of DigiPlus Foundation. “With affected areas spanning from Cebu to Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pangasinan, we call on more partners to join our efforts.’
DigiPlus Foundation said it will continue working with local government units, partners, and its nationwide network to support affected communities, from immediate relief efforts to longer-term recovery and resilience initiatives.
