The perfect gift: Through the eyes of Amor

Avatar

Prudencio “Amor” Lamarroza, the youngest of five children of rice miller Eugenio Lamarrosa and Eladia Leal, has established himself as a distinctive voice in the art world. His nickname “Amor,” derived from his second given name Villamor, reflects his passion for artistic exploration.

From critique to surrealism

His artistic journey began at the University of Santo Tomas, where he faced critique from Prof. Diosdado Lorenzo for a nude painting rendered in blue.

Influenced by modernists such as local artists Lee Aguinaldo and Roberto Chabet and European masters like Amedeo Modigliani and Victor Vasarely, Lamarroza developed a style that, while experimental, remained predominantly figurative. Eventually, his surrealistic paintings garnered significant attention throughout his career.
