Your Father’s Day gift guide for design-minded dads
Father’s Day is tomorrow, and what better way to celebrate our dads than with thoughtful presents chosen especially for them?
Since this is a design article, we’re focusing on fathers with an eye for anything design-related. Here are a few gift ideas worth considering.

Frette bedsheets for the sleep conscious dad
I once watched a documentary on Cristiano Ronaldo, another sporty dad, and how much he values sleep as a cure for almost anything. He reportedly averages eight to 10 hours of sleep a night, and anyone would indeed feel better after that much rest.
What better way to support a perfect night’s sleep than with the most comfortable bedsheets? Aside from a good mattress suited to one’s body type, pure Egyptian cotton sheets make for an excellent choice.
Chess set for a dad who likes to make the first move
There are various interesting chess sets we can get for our dads. I found a leather chess set on a hanging board from Prizmic & Brill. It doubles as decor as well. Another cute find is Skyline Chess, with sets designed by architects and featuring different beautiful skylines of the world.
A stainless reading lamp for the reading dad
A transitional style reading lamp is perfect for dads with lots of books to catch up on, especially when placed on a leather desk. I found one from Ralph Lauren Home at Home Manila on IG.
A crocodile skin pillow for the dad with discerning taste
I know what you’re thinking, but these crocodiles are farmed, so it’s perfectly safe to use their skin for an accent pillow (crocodile meat, anyone?). Just one piece is enough to make a statement.
A box for trinkets for the dad collector
Beautiful boxes can be used for decor or for storing collectibles. I found these boxes with the art of Arturo Luz embossed or printed on them—definitely a piece of art. There’s also a breakfast-in-bed tray to match, which is another nice gift to give to the man of the house.
Coffee maker for the caffeine loving dad
What better gift to give than a flaming red coffee maker to match Dad’s den or library? De’Longhi—or, if you have an unlimited budget, La Marzocco—is something a busy father with discerning coffee tastes would love.
A Kamado grill for the BBQ-loving dad
I first saw a Kamado grill on Henry Cavill’s Instagram (another handsome dad) making the juiciest steaks (no pun intended). Not only does the Kamado grill cook evenly, but it also keeps the inside of the meat tender—soft on the inside and crusty on the outside.
It also doubles as a pizza maker. Just make sure you give it to a dad with a backyard or outdoor space.
Toolbox for the handy daddy
A toolbox is needed in every home. The Trusco toolbox, with two levels and adjustable compartments for smaller items, can also be placed on a shelf as a display piece since it is both cute and sturdy.
A digital subscription to Monocle for the stylish dad
I would suggest GQ for older dads, whether the Japanese or UK version, and Monocle for younger fathers. These magazines make for a nice bedtime read instead of the usual Instagram or TikTok scrolling.

Bluetooth speaker for the musical dad
The waterproof Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 Bluetooth speaker is perfect for dads to carry around, whether he’s enjoying a spa day in the bathroom or grilling his favorite meats outdoors.
Leather slippers for the loungey dad
Leather slippers with a fancy robe can make our dads look like they just stepped out of a classic film. Options can vary from very fancy luxury brands to comfy Birkenstocks and UGGs. Leather slippers or slip-ons can also be therapeutic for the feet.
