Back in full swing: The Ayala Land Premier Golf Invitational returns
That particular Monday was anything but manic. Instead of heading into the usual city rush, I found myself driving in the opposite direction—towards the cool, quiet greens of Ayala Greenfield Golf & Leisure Club in Calamba for the much-awaited return of the Ayala Land Premier Golf Invitational.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was more than just a tournament—it was a comeback, thoughtfully staged. Guests were welcomed with warm hospitality, a signature of Ayala Land Premier, while the crisp mountain air—surprisingly cool for late March—set the tone for a day that felt both refreshing and unhurried.

As promised, curated experiences awaited. Upon arrival, players were given gift certificates to redeem at the clubhouse, where a well-curated selection of golf apparel, shoes, and equipment added a lifestyle dimension to the day. A hearty breakfast for morning players and lunch for the afternoon flight ensured everyone teed off comfortably, with everything seamlessly in place.
It had been some time since I last played Ayala Greenfield, and the course remains as stunning—and as challenging—as ever. With Mount Makiling standing watch, each hole unfolds with its own character, framed by lush greenery and sweeping views of Laguna de Bay and the Tagaytay Ridge. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course rewards thoughtful play. The greens were lightning fast, the bunkers exacting, and every shot required precision. This is a course that doesn’t just impress—it tests.

Around 150 golfers took part in this long-awaited return, marking a revival of a tournament first held in 2019. More than the competition, there was a palpable sense of reunion—a gathering of a community brought together by a shared appreciation for the game and the lifestyle that comes with it.
Adding to the excitement, the hole-in-one and raffle draw prizes were nothing short of exceptional—from a BYD Sealion 5 DM-i and a Panerai timepiece from Lucerne, to coveted home and kitchen furnishings, fixtures, and fitness gadgets from Focus Global and CWC—further elevating an already remarkable day on the greens.

During the awarding dinner, Mike Jugo, President of Ayala Land Premier, captured the spirit of the day. “The first Ayala Land Premier Golf Invitational was held in 2019, and it’s been quite some time since we last gathered in the spirit of friendship,” he said.
“That inaugural event was meant to start a tradition, and today, we’re proud to continue it—bringing together a special community once again. After a pause, we’re delighted to resume this annual tournament and celebrate this shared experience with all of you.”

His words resonated with everyone in the room. This was not just a return—it was a reaffirmation. “Thank you for making this event meaningful, and to our partners and sponsors for their support. Most of all, thank you to everyone who made the journey to be with us,” he added.
Much like the Ayala Land Premier brand, the invitational was defined by understated luxury—where every detail is considered, every experience elevated, and every moment intentional.

And as the day came to a close, with the cool breeze settling over the fairways, one thing was clear: the Ayala Land Premier Golf Invitational is not just back—it is, once again, in full swing.
