Cangolf, Luisita lead first entrants into Interclub’s HOF
Canlubang and Luisita, clubs with the most storied rivalry in the rich history of the Philippine Airlines Interclub, will be honored before the 76th staging of what is known as the country’s unofficial team golf championship by leading three other clubs into enshrinement to the tournament’s Hall of Fame (HOF).
Cangolf and Luisita will earn their places in both the Men’s and Seniors divisions, a deserved citation for having put color in the tournament because of a heated—yet camaraderie-filled—rivalry that dates back to the Interclub’s early years.
The Sugar Barons are the winningest Men’s titlists with 17 and the first club to win it five (2006 to 2010) and four straight from 2000 to 2003, with their Seniors team earning its place in the Hall for winning it 11 times highlighted by a streak of four straight from 2006 to 2009.
Luisita, meanwhile, owns the most wins by any Senior team in history, winning it a total of 18 times while owning an eye-popping streak of six wins from 2000 to 2005.
The regular Luisita team, meanwhile, is an eight-time winner and has a three-peat to its record carved out from 1991 to 1993.
The other clubs who made the hall in the Regular Men’s championship are Bacolod Gold and Country Club, Camp Aguinaldo and the recent power of the Interclub, Manila Southwoods.
