Closing 67 gives Tabuena joint 14th place finish in IS Macau

Filipino star Miguel Tabuena on Sunday closed out with a three-under-par 67 to finish in a 14th-place tie in the International Series (IS) Macau won by Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz by three shots over the United States’ Patrick Reed at Macau Golf and Country Club.
Tabuena tallied a 72-hole 270 and finished 12 shots behind, beating reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit winner and deposed champion John Catlin by four shots and a handful of other tour luminaries counting Poom Saksansin of Thailand and American Shiwan Kim.
Ortiz won his second IS crown by shooting a 64, breaking away from an overnight tie with Reed right on the first hole with a birdie. Reed returned a 67 as Jason Kokrak, another US bet, finished another three shots behind also after a 67.
“It was a good week,” said Ortiz. “I think I did a good job of putting the ball in play, that’s important on this golf course. I think I drove it really well. I took advantage of the par fives and some of the short par fours, and I mean, I think that’s important on this golf course.”
Tabuena started the week with a 64 to be just a shot behind Reed, only to be slowed down considerably by a 72 in the third round.
