Crucial Junior PGT stop up at Malarayat
Valuable points to qualify for the National Match Play finals will be up for grabs starting on Monday when the penultimate leg of the ICTSI Junior PGT series tees off at challenging Mount Malarayat in Lipa, Batangas.
With no one really having cemented spots in the grand tournament set for the first week of October at The Country Club in Laguna, the seventh leg of this series will be pivotal to anyone’s chase for a berth, with the well-manicured layout south of Manila a formidable beast to conquer.
Luisita in Tarlac hosted the last leg, with Isonn Angheng and Venus delos Santos winning in the 8-9 age group, Aerin Chan in the girls’ 10-12 division, Jose Carlos Taruc and Precious Zaragosa in the 13-15 bracket, and Mark Kobayashi and Lia Duque in the 16-18 category.
Repeat victories will more or less seal the deal for them in Laguna where they will join Vito Sarines, the four-time 10-12 boys’ champion who made the finals ahead of everyone else.
In the Luzon series, only the top four performances will count with the finals to also feature the top two players from each division of the Visayas and Mindanao series.
