Noted quiz genius joins Trivia Throwdown

Ramon Lorenzo, the former TV quiz champion who is one of the popular personalities in the trivia circles, will be the quizmaster when Inquirer Sports launches Trivia Throwdown on March 14.

Lorenzo, who has topped several popular TV quiz shows in the past and is a Mensa-certified genius, continues to be a renowned figure in the trivia gaming community and hosts quiz nights every Thursday at Linger Bar in Ortigas.

“I just started hosting Quiz Nights last November but Trivia Throwdown seems different,” Lorenzo said. “I think it is more exciting because of its innovative format.”

He will join Trivia Throwdown along with host Rommel Fuertes Jr.

What makes the event unique, apart from the fact that the questions will center on sports trivia, is that it will have the flair of professional wrestling, with power-ups given to the teams—making it not just a battle of wits, but of strategy as well.

“I’m excited to see how well we can incorporate the wonders of pro wrestling in a quiz show and I’m sure everyone else joining are, too!” said Fuertes, an Inquirer Sports beat reporter who has had stints on the broadcast booth for the National Basketball Training Center.

A sports columnist, Lorenzo is also a former teacher at Quezon Science High School.
