PSA tackles world gymnastics tournament

Philippine gymnastics takes the spotlight at Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum with rising star Karl Eldrew Yulo and Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion headlining the session at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The 10:30 a.m. forum will focus on the country’s preparations for hosting the World Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships in November, a major international event set at Marriott Hotel in Pasay.

Yulo, younger brother of Olympian Carlos Yulo, has carved a name for himself in junior competitions and is expected to lead the charge for the host nation in the global tilt. Carrion will provide key updates on the event’s organization and its significance for the local gymnastics scene.

The weekly PSA Forum is presented by San Miguel Corporation, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, Smart/PLDT and ArenaPlus. It is livestreamed on the PSA Facebook page (fb.com/PhilippineSportswritersAssociation), with delayed broadcast over Radyo Pilipinas 2 and its official social media platforms.

Gymnastics has gained so much popularity in the country after Carlos Yulo, Eldrew’s older and more celebrated brother, bagged two gold medals in the Paris Olympics last year.

Eldrew is being groomed to be Carlos’ heir apparent, with the elder Yulo openly expressing his desire to be able to represent the Philippines with his brother in the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
