SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—Andrew Kim Remolino launched his quest for a Southeast Asian Games gold medal replete with optimism following another victory in the 2025 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) Championships on Sunday.

But the Cebuano earned this repeat win in the men’s elite sprint distance category after clocking 56 minutes and 46 seconds to turn back Matthew Justine Hermosa by a second.

“I went all out because I expected a tough challenge since this is the first qualifying race to earn a spot for the SEA (Southeast Asian) Games,’’ said Remolino, who is teammates with Hermosa in the Go For Gold Philippines-Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group.

Hermosa was second to Remolino for the second straight year.

Raven Alcoseba claimed the women’s elite sprint distance title, her third straight in a consistent bid for a stronger finish in the SEA Games to be staged in Thailand at the end of the year.

“This is one of the races that we need to make the SEA Games (team),” Alcoseba said. “I’m determined to make the sacrifice by working hard for a better showing.’’

Alcoseba, the 2021 Vietnam SEAG women’s individual bronze medalist, clocked one hour, five minutes and 19 seconds and was hardly threatened by the pursuing pair of Erika Nicole Burgos and Katrina Salazar, who checked in second in 1:06.56 and third, more than three minutes behind the 22-year-old Alcoseba.
