SCALING MOUNTAINS

Jeno Panganiban and Miguel Mapalad are embarking on a historic journey to conquer Mt. Everest, aiming to become the first Filipino team to scale all 14 of the world’s highest peaks. Their mission is not just about reaching the summit—it’s about proving that Filipinos belong among the world’s elite mountaineers.

“The last Filipino to summit Everest was 18 years ago,” said Panganiban. “We hope to make some noise.”

Both climbers, representing the Philippine 14 Peaks Expedition, see Everest as just the beginning. Their goal is to conquer the “Eight-Thousanders”—the 14 mountains over 8,000 meters high, each with unique challenges.

“This will set the tone for us,” Mapalad explained. “We want to show that Filipinos can hang with the best.”
