Stage set for Bohol 5150

The 5150 Bohol triathlon gets off the ground on Sunday over a world-class course that will give the field a great tune-up for a bigger event slated in Cebu next month.

Set over the Olympic distance of a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-km bike and 10-km run, the event has drawn a big field, most of which will also be seeing action in the Ironman 70.3 in Lapu-Lapu where the test will be sterner.

A bike course that’s designed to be fast and enjoyable will be up for the field to conquer, even as the bike trail will be over smooth and flat terrain and the run set before some of the best backdrops of Panglao Island.

“We’ve worked tirelessly to ensure the event is both memorable and safe, with meticulous planning and attention to every detail,” said race director Julian Valencia.

Organized by Sunrise Events, Inc., the event serves as a launchpad for beginners entering the world of triathlon and a stepping stone for athletes building toward longer, more demanding races. It also draws a wide spectrum of contenders, from first-time racers to elite-level athletes.
