TNT, Heading to quarters after rout of NLEX

Jordan Heading’s strong scoring performance helped TNT find the other half of its dreaded form—and a path to the quarterfinals of the PBA Philippine Cup.

Heading had 32 points to go with five rebounds and four assists for the Tropang Giga, spearheading a concerted effort to perform well from start to finish on the way to a 6-3 (win-loss) record.

“Coming into this game, our theme was to play a complete game altogether and play well for 48 minutes,” coach Chot Reyes said after seeing his TNT through to the quarterfinals with a shot at a Top 4 spot.

“We wanted to play a complete game. We lost the past two games because we started off well and then we faltered in the second half of those games.”

Skid arrested

TNT was coming off losses to conference topnotchers Rain or Shine and San Miguel Beer and in both games, the Tropang Giga built early leads only to falter in the end.

Calvin Oftana also showed the way for TNT with 19 points and five rebounds.

“We just wanted to get our rhythm going into the playoffs and make sure we’re playing basketball the right way,” said Heading.
