Top Taiwanese bets fancied in Ladies Masters
A formidable contingent from Taiwan, led by second-ranked Min Lee, will be coming over to battle some of the best in the region when the ICTSI Philippine Ladies Masters gets off the ground Wednesday at Summit Point in Lipa City in Batangas.
Based in the United States after having several stints in the LPGA, Lee will be the tip of the Taiwanese sword in the $200,000, 54-hole championship where top bets from Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines are also entered.
Chin-Min Chen and Ching Huang, ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the Taiwan LPGA, are also entered, although it is Lee who is in top form following a win at the WPG Ladies Open and a joint runner-up finish at the Kendra Tire TLPGA Open.
There will be a total of 16 TLPGA regulars in the field, while the Philippines will be represented by its a capable delegation that will be led by Princess Superal, Mafy Singson Chanelle Avaricio and Florence Bisera.
A deep Thai line up led by Nook Sukapan, who lost the title by a stroke last year to Korean Kim Kayoung at The Country Club, will be in Lipa.
Although the defending champion will not return, the Thai challenge remains formidable with Chonlada Chayanun, Cholcheva Wongras, Kultida Pramphun, Ornnicha Konsunthea, Wannasiri Sirisampant, Supamas Sangchan and Pakin Kawinpakorn.
Filipino bets have been scrambling in the past week to get practice rounds off at Summit Point, a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-masterpiece that used the best holes of famous golf courses in the world as inspiration.
