Unranked Lagac pockets twin junior tennis titles

Inquirer Sports Staff

Unranked Miguel Lagac III won two titles in MAC’s Crank It National Junior Championships at Olivarez Sports Center hard courts in Parañaque recently, with Jan Cadee Dagoon earning co-MVP honors after a strong performance in the girls’ division.

A Cebu native, Lagac ruled the boys’ 16- and 18-under classes over Rafa Monte de Ramos and Julio Naredo, respectively, by losing just a combined nine games in a brilliant all-around display in the season-ending tournament of the country’s longest-running talent search under the Palawan Pawnshop junior tennis program.

Lagac beat Monte de Ramos of Lipa City, 6-1, 6-4, before scoring a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over the fourth-ranked Naredo of Quezon City.

Dagoon narrowly missed matching Lagac’s two-title romp in the girls’ side, but the recent PPS-PEPP Olongapo leg winner still sparkled with a title and a runner-up finish to share MVP honors with Lagac.
