Vis-Min JPGT action gets going in Mactan

The Visayas-Mindanao swing of the trailblazing Junior PGT circuit gets off the ground on Monday with the ICTSI Mactan Island Championship where local bets are expected to exploit their familiarity of the military-controlled layout.
This will be the fourth leg of the circuit after making stops at Eagle Ridge, Sherwood Hills and Splendido Taal for the Luzon swing as the circuit aims to identify the best in all regions who will make up the cast in the North vs. South Elite Junior Finals later this year.
Cebu entries will undoubtedly have some advantage with local knowledge of the par-72 layout that is one of the tightest—and at this time of the year because of the heat—bumpiest courses the kids will get to play.
Precious Zaragosa, a multi-titled teen who is being coached by father Boyet, will represent Davao here and this early, is tipped as one of the players to watch. She sees action in the girls’ 15-18 category where world ranking points are also at stake.
Next week, the series makes a stop at the former Marapara layout in Bacolod.
