With eye on SEAG, Hallasgo joing Sydney race

Christine Hallasgo continues to compete in major marathons with the goal of being in her best competitive shape for the Southeast Asian Games in December.
Hallasgo, who stormed to the national consciousness with her surprise gold that led to a 1-2 finish for the Philippines ion the 2019 Sea Games here, is set to compete in the Sydney Marathon in Australia on Aug. 31.
And in tournaments leading up to the SEA Games, she keeps her goal modest.
“[M]y target now [is] to break my personal best,” Hallasgo told the Inquirer earlier this year. “I know I can still improve. Our coaches give us a program and we train step by step. Our main focus is the incoming SEA Games.”
“The big events that I’m going to join, the international [races] is so that I can improve.”
Joining Hallasgo in Australia are Richard Sallano and coach Rio de la Cruz. Hallasgo and Sallano are coming off victories in the National Milo Marathon.
The Southeast Asian Games will be held in Bangkok.
