Spotlight on Batangas as an Attractive and Progressive Destination

The Batangas Development Summit (BDS) marked its 15th year run last 01 December 2023 at Limapark Hotel with the theme “Destination Batangas: Right Place, Right Time, Right Now.”This year’s Summit was led by Batangas Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, Vice Governor Jose Leviste II, and featured esteemed speakers Joey Radovan, Country Head of Jones Lang LaSalle-Philippines who was joined by the Senior Director for Office Jason Abraham; Head of Capital Markets, P. Ryan Isip; and Director for Logistics and Industrial Charles McNaught. Ar. Sylvester Wong the National Chair of the Urban Land Institute-Philippines and Amb. Jose Maria Cariño the Former Director General of the Foreign Service Institute of the Department of Foreign Affairs also formed part of BDS 2023’s roster of distinguished resource speakers.

Radovan and his associates talked about the real estate investment potentials of Batangas. Ar. Wong presented sustainable land use within the province. For his part, Amb. Cariño discussed possible and future initiatives for the arts and culture scene of Batangas. The Summit also marked the return of the Key to the Province of Batangas (KTTP) Awards since the pandemic. During the pre-event press conference, two business heads were given this award by none other than Governor Mandanas himself. The recipients were Ms. Elena Trusova, Cluster Operations Lead of JTI Asia Manufacturing Corp; and Mr. Masatoshi Hioki, Director of Sohbi Kohgei (Phils.) Inc. This award is given by the Governor of Batangas to foreign nationals and select Filipino leaders with presence in the province of Batangas. The award is a symbol of goodwill and appreciation for their support to the growth and development of the province.

About Batangas Development Summit

BDS is an annual conference that highlights the business, tourism, economic, and social developments in the province of Batangas. Now on its 15th year, it is the only conference of its kind in the province of Batangas.

The Summit was first held in 2002 as a biennial event dubbed as the North Batangas Summit. It has gained significant attention through the years as well-known and respected personalities from different fields share their knowledge and insights.

Since its inception, BDS has been a venue for discourse for different stakeholders from various sectors and industries. Discussions on plans and programs for the sustainable development of the region have also been a staple of the Summit.
