A journey towards the promise of Easter joy
I am overwhelmed by the grace that still shrouds our beautiful city as we gather here a year after the wonderful celebration of the Archdiocese of Lipa’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary. I consider Lipa’s status as the “Little Rome of the Philippines,” a tribute to the continuing faith and rich legacy of Catholicism that thrives within our community, with the utmost reverence and gratitude.
The majestic St. Sebastian Cathedral, found in the center of Lipa City, is a representation of our undying dedication and unyielding commitment to our faith. For everyone looking for comfort and spiritual rejuvenation, its soaring spires and elaborate design serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration.
There are other holy locations outside Lipa’s borders that enhance our religious environment. The modern-day saints, who continue to inspire us with their strong faith and unshakable commitment to God, especially St. Padre Pio, are honored at the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio in Sto. Tomas City.
The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Batangas City is a magnificent representation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is the mother of all believers and our everlasting intercessor. We are reminded of Mary’s involvement in our redemption and her unwavering love for each one of us by its majesty and beauty.
If you continue south, the Basilica of St. Martin of Tours in Taal is a real example of how our Catholic tradition has endured. Pilgrims are drawn to this site by its illustrious past and magnificent architecture, which highlight the depth and beauty of our religious customs.
In the tranquil town of Balete, the Marian Orchard stands as a sacred sanctuary where the faithful gather to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and seek her intercession in their lives.
The Our Lady of Caysasay Shrine, which is tucked away in the peaceful village of Labac Taal, is a revered haven where devout people come to worship the Blessed Virgin Mary and ask for her help in their lives. Let us be inspired by our beloved Archdiocese’s deep spirituality and rich history as we approach Holy Week in the spirit of synodality, heeding Pope Francis’ invitation. Let us consider the atonement of Christ and the great love that He has proven for us by His suffering, death, and resurrection.
To live lives of holiness and virtue in conformity with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us try to imitate the models of faith put forth by the saints and martyrs who have gone before us.
As we journey together towards the promise of Easter joy and resurrection, may this Holy Week be a time of spiritual refreshment and development.
