Palace: Proposed P200 pay hike up to wage boards

Malacañang on Wednesday rejected calls for President Marcos to certify as urgent the P200 legislated wage hike, saying he is leaving the matter to regional wage boards.
In a press briefing, Palace press officer Claire Castro said Mr. Marcos would await the decision of Congress on the passage of the proposed legislated wage increase but added that he is not keen on certifying it as an urgent measure.
“The directive of the President is to follow what is provided in the Labor Code, and he has also given directives for the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) to review the salaries or wages of our workers for each of the 16 regions,” she said.
“There is no upcoming certification [of the P200 wage hike measure as urgent] as of the moment, but the directive [from] the President is to fast-track the RTWPB,” Castro added.
