Five things to know about Autosweep RFID

Avatar

As the government looks to fully implement cashless toll payments, SMC Infrastructure continues to encourage motorists to switch to the Autosweep RFID system for fast, convenient, and hassle-free trips at its expressway network.

Autosweep RFID is the preferred electronic toll collection wallet at the following expressways: South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), NAIA Expressway, STAR Tollway, Tarlac-Pangasinan, La Union Expressway (TPLEX), and the Skyway System.

Here are five things you need to remember about Autosweep RFID:

Load up before you leave

Lack of sufficient load has been identified as one of the major causes of congestion at exit plazas. Holding up the queue by arguing with toll personnel compounds the problem and contributes to delays.

Expressway users are reminded to load up before leaving their houses or offices. Autosweep RFID users can download the app, available on the Apple App Store and on Google Play, to check their balance and load up. They can also head on over to Autosweep kiosks and customer service centers to load up their accounts.

Autosweep RFID account wallets can also be loaded via online banking or through over-the- counter transactions, and other popular payment methods.

Replace worn-out tags for free

An Autosweep RFID tag would normally last for 2-3 years. But just like any other device, RFID tags deteriorate over time, especially when installed on your vehicle headlamps, which are exposed to the elements such as heat and water. In this case, the RFID tag’s lifespan may be shorter. If you notice that your Autosweep RFID tag gets read intermittently, go to the nearest kiosk or service center to have your tag replaced for free. Fill out the form and submit it together with your Autosweep RFID card, and the team will process your request immediately. They will issue a new card and replace the tag with a new Autosweep RFID sticker.

Metallic window tints interfere with signals transmitted by devices such as Autosweep RFID tag readers

Metallic window tints interfere with RFID scanners

While offering higher heat rejection on your vehicles, metallic window tints interfere with signals transmitted by devices such as Autosweep RFID tag readers, which are mounted at toll plazas. Since RFID tags rely on antennas to read and exchange information, the transmission of signal from the reader to the tag and vice versa should not be impeded. Motorists who have metallic window tints installed on their windshields are encouraged to have a portion of their tint cut so that their Autosweep RFID tags can be read properly.

Update your account details at the Autosweep website

To support the government’s mandate to adopt cashless payments at tollways, Autosweep has introduced Autosweep-To-Go, where motorists no longer needed to present IDs and proof of vehicle registration for their application.

However, Autosweep-To-Go users still need to update their account information to get their monthly statement of account and other important customer advisories.

Meanwhile, motorists who have just received their license plates are likewise encouraged to update their vehicle information for proper data maintenance.

To update information, motorists can go to the Autosweep website (http://www.autosweeprfid.com) and select the Update my ATG tab. A form will pop out where motorists can enter their details. Make sure your contact information is updated to receive customer advisories and other notices.

Download the Autosweep RFID app

The Autosweep RFID app offers a convenient way to manage your account. You can monitor your balance in real time, generate statements of account, and quickly reload your wallet. Download the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play, enter your registered email address, and follow the simple instructions.

It also has a toll calculator to help you plan your trips. You can also access updates on the latest traffic situaJon along SMC’s expressway network, and link to the app’s feedback mechanism.
