Flight data recorder of PAF jet to be analyzed in US

Avatar

The flight data recorder of the FA-50 fighter jet that crashed on a mountain range in Bukidnon would be sent to the United States for voice and data extraction, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said on Tuesday.

PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said the investigating team had already secured the crash site and gathered the necessary evidence from the fighter jet.

The jet was one of the 12 units acquired by the government from Korea Aerospace Industries, South Korea’s sole aircraft maker, from 2015 to 2017.

The PAF fighter jets were providing air support to government troops during an encounter with the New People’s Army in Cabanglasan town when one of the aircraft with two pilots went missing past midnight on March 4.
