Viral video of drunk cop gets QCPD chief fired
The top police official of Quezon City has been relieved from his post due to command responsibility after one of his policemen figured in a case of grave misconduct.
The relief of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Police Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig Jr. was ordered by Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, on April 21.
In a statement on Tuesday, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil also addressed the issue, saying: “Let this be clear: we will not allow any abusive officer to hide behind the badge.”
“If you harm the people you swore to protect, you will be arrested, prosecuted and expelled from the service. No second chances. No exceptions,” he added.
Earlier, Staff Sgt. Colonel Jordan Marzan, who was assigned to QCPD Station 2, was arrested for “forcibly entering a private residence and allegedly assaulting a minor while under the influence of alcohol” in Barangay Damayan, Quezon City shortly past midnight Sunday.

A video of the incident was uploaded on social media by the complainant and quickly went viral.
A separate statement from the NCRPO said that Marzan allegedly confronted the residents of the household and accused them of wrongdoing, resulting in a heated altercation.
The complainant claimed that the suspect also inflicted physical injuries on her daughter who is a minor.
Marzan, who was immediately disarmed following his arrest, is facing charges of violation of domicile and multiple counts of violation of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, the PNP said.
“This is not just a case of misconduct—it is a disgraceful betrayal of the people’s trust,” Marbil said.
In a press briefing at Camp Karingal on Tuesday, Aberin said that he relieved Buslig “because, as I see it, he didn’t report the incident immediately.”
“I found out about it from the station commander himself. He called me up about the incident, and he told me about the actions he was taking,” the NCRPO chief told reporters.
Following Buslig’s administrative relief, deputy director for administration Col. Randy Glenn Silvio has been appointed QCPD officer in charge.
