Zamboanga Peninsula flyover opens to motorists

Motorists can now use Zamboanga Peninsula’s first-ever flyover.

In a statement, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the Governor Camins/MCLL Highway and Veterans Avenue Flyover in Zamboanga City was officially inaugurated last May 22.

The P450-million project, spanning 437.7 meters, is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in one of Zamboanga City’s busiest junctions. It is also seen to ease the movement of goods and services in the peninsula.

“This project serves as a vital access road that will not only reduce travel time but also enhance road safety and stimulate economic activity in Zamboanga City and its neighboring provinces,” DPWH Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao Dia said.

Another major road project to help stimulate the region’s economy, the P2.39-billion RT Lim-Siocon Road project in Zamboanga Sibugay, is expected to be completed by the third quarter.

DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain said the project was in the final stages of civil works.
