BIZ BUZZ: Alaska marks World Milk Day

Dairy company Alaska Milk Corp. (AMC), the Embassy of the Netherlands in the Philippines and non-profit organization Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines have collaborated to champion nutrition and sustainability this World Milk Day.

To mark this occasion, volunteers prepared 500 nutritious meals for residents of Malambing Compound, Barangay Teacher’s Village East in Quezon City using rescued surplus food and Alaska dairy products,

Volunteers from AMC and the Dutch Embassy prepared the meals at the SOS Makeshift Kitchen, highlighting the significance of reducing waste and nurturing communities.

“Every day, perfectly good food goes to waste—not because it lacks value, but because our systems aren’t built to recover and redistribute it efficiently. At Scholars of Sustenance, we offer a solution: rescuing surplus food and transforming it into nourishment for communities in need,” Scholars of Sustenance Philippines Country Director Rachel Luna said.

AMC Managing Director Tarang Gupta said the multi-sectoral collaboration goes beyond feeding bodies and minds—it helps nourish the next generation through dairy.

“Every glass of milk we share, every surplus meal we rescue, is a step toward a world where no good food goes to waste and no child in the community goes hungry,” said Gupta.
