‘Bad Boy’ Robin Padilla to head Senate ethics body?

Sen. Robinhood Padilla, who has been dubbed the “Bad Boy” of Philippine cinema, is being considered to head the Senate committee on ethics.

According to the Senate’s website, the ethics body is responsible for “all matters relating to the conduct, rights, privileges, safety, dignity, integrity and reputation of the Senate and its members.”

“Yes it’s true, it’s being discussed,” Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva confirmed in a Viber message to reporters on Monday. “But nothing is final until it’s read on the [Senate floor],” he added.

Padilla, meanwhile, has expressed willingness to give up the chairmanship of the Senate committee on constitutional amendments and revision of codes to a “more competent chairman,” according to a source.

The Inquirer tried to confirm the information from Padilla but has yet to get a response as of posting.

In a separate Viber message, Villanueva also confirmed a “plan” to install Sen. Francis Pangilinan as the new head of the constitutional amendments panel.

“It’s still being discussed,” Pangilinan said in another Viber message when asked to comment.
