Local bets dominate Damosa 5150

Local bets Eryk Omandam and Natasha Doromal-Lim bested an international field and shared the limelight on Sunday, after ruling their respective divisions in the first-ever Damosa Land 5150 Triathlon in Samal Island.

The 20-year-old Omandam clocked two hours and 20:24 minutes in ruling the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-km bike and 10-km run men’s side of the event, improving on his fourth-place finish in the age-group of the Ironman 70.3 Lapu-Lapu earlier this year.

Omandam turned in times of 20:20 for the swim, 1:12:12 for the bike and 44:04 for the run to beat Arthur Abogado (2:22:26), who dominated the 45-49 division and Jonard Saim (2:26:21), who settled for third overall.

“In the run, I realized I was in a good position because I couldn’t see anyone close behind,” said Omandam in Filipino. He was also crowned the 20-24 champion.
