JMS 2025: Honda unveils Super-ONE prototype EV
TOKYO – Honda Motor Company is on a mission to make electric vehicles (EV) fun.
That’s why the carmaker launched the Super-ONE prototype EV at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show here at the Tokyo Big Sight. It is based on the locally available Honda N-ONE e: battery-electric kei car.
“While preparing for the upcoming electrified era, the pursuit of the ‘joy of driving’ unique to Honda – the sense of oneness the driver feels with the vehicle – will never change regardless of the times or type of powertrain,” said Honda Motor Company director, president and representative Toshihiro Mibe in a speech.
“Honda is offering a wide range of products that enable its customers to experience this ‘joy of driving,’ whether they are EV or hybrid models,” he added.

Super supermini
The Super-ONE carries over many exterior styling cues of the N-ONE e:, such as the round LED headlights with off-color surrounds, along with the rectangular LED taillights.
However, a new bodykit incorporates flared fenders to fit the two-tone, 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/45-series Yokohama Advan Fleva sports tires. Other touches include front and rear cooling ducts, red brake calipers, a gloss-black roof and gloss-black mirrors that give the Super-ONE a racier look.
Inside, this prototype EV gets much of its cabin from the N-ONE, although the exclusive sports seats and the asymmetric layout of blue surface material add a playful touch. In addition, the horizontal orientation of the instrument panel offers a clear field of vision.
“Leveraging the lightweight platform advanced for N Series models, the Super-ONE Prototype realizes sporty and nimble driving,” Mibe said.
“In addition, its wide stance with extended tread, realized by prominently flared blister fenders, enables a stable and dynamic driving experience,” he added.
Engage boost
The Super-ONE likewise features a Boost Mode made exclusively for this model.
Aside from increasing power output and responsiveness, the system synchronizes the simulated 7-speed transmission and the Active Sound Control, along with offering dedicated settings for features like the triple-gauge cluster and illumination color.
“As the power output increases, engine sound fills the cabin in sync with the feeling of shifting gears, as if driving an engine-powered vehicle,” Mibe said.
“The Super-ONE offers an uplifting driving experience by combining outstanding acceleration unique to EVs and the fun of driving engine-powered vehicles,” he added.
Although no official power figures were mentioned, it is likely a souped-up version of the N-ONE e: powertrain that combines a 29.5-kWh battery pack and a 64-horsepower motor (in compliance with government regulations on kei cars). It has a claimed maximum WLTC range of 295 kilometers.

On sale starting 2026
Honda said the Super-ONE has undergone extensive testing on various road surfaces and under diverse climate conditions in Japan, the UK and other countries across Asia.
“Starting in 2026, the Super-ONE will be launched first in Japan, followed by other markets with strong demand for compact EVs, such as various Asian countries and the UK,” Mibe said.
Do you think Honda Cars Philippines Inc. should bring the Super-ONE to the Philippines?
