BIZ BUZZ: New captain boards Prime Media ship

Emmanuel John Abris

Prime Media Holdings appears to be turning a new page—and it’s starting with a familiar name in legal and corporate circles.

The company, formerly known as First e-Bank Corp., has tapped legal heavyweight Dennis P. Manalo as its new chairperson and president, signaling what could be a pivotal chapter for the firm.

The appointment, approved by the board on Feb. 18, also puts Manalo at the head of the executive committee and names him as Prime Media’s representative to Media Serbisyo Production Corp.

Clearly, this isn’t just another boardroom shuffle—it’s a consolidation of leadership in the hands of a seasoned insider.

Manalo brings nearly three decades of experience as a lawyer, corporate strategist and adviser.

A product of Ateneo de Manila University and Ateneo Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor with honors, Manalo placed 15th in the 1996 bar examinations—a distinction that marked him early as one to watch.

His resume reads like a roadmap of elite legal practice.

He started at SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, widely regarded as the country’s top law firm, before moving to Siguion Reyna Montecillo & Ongsiako, where he rose from associate to partner.

In 2014, he established his own firm, the Dennis P. Manalo Law Office, which he continues to lead today.
