BIZ BUZZ: TRYP to debut in Bacolod
Property and education conglomerate Phinma Corp. is quietly strengthening its presence in the provinces—this time by planting a new hospitality flag in Bacolod City.
Its unit, Phinma Hospitality, recently broke ground for TRYP by Wyndham Bacolod, a lifestyle hotel that will rise at Saludad township, the 21-hectare master-planned community being developed by Phinma Properties along the Bacolod–Silay Airport Access Road.
Once completed, the project will serve as the flagship hospitality component of the township and will mark Phinma Hospitality’s third TRYP hotel in the Philippines.
But this will not be just another cookie-cutter property. According to Phinma Hospitality chair and CEO Jose Mari del Rosario, the aim is to build a hotel that reflects Bacolod’s strong identity and growing economic momentum.
Design cues will lean heavily on local culture—from visual nods to the MassKara Festival to interiors inspired by the region’s sugar heritage. Think deep violet tones, terrazzo tiles echoing festival vibrancy and lighting fixtures reminiscent of caramelized sugar.
The hotel is also expected to boost the appeal of Saludad, which will also host Southwestern University, Phinma’s first campus outside Cebu, as well as residential developments Maayo Terraces and Likha Residences.
For Phinma, the Bacolod project is another bet on the city’s steady rise as a tourism and business hub in Negros Occidental.
